The red form drosera capensis is an excellent beginner plant due to its hardiness. It has long, red leaves with red tentacles each covered in crystal clear dew drops that shimmer in sunlight. It produces pink flowers.
 
These plants mostly catch fungus, gnats, fruit flies, mosquitoes and the occasional house fly.
